Director of Business Development

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and well-connected professional to help scale our presence across the yachting and marine industries. This role is ideal for someone with an established network in the yacht brokerage world, along with a strong passion for sales, strategic partnerships, and client relationship development.

This is a full-time position focused on developing and managing relationships not only with yacht brokers and brokerages, but also with key players across related marine sectors — including insurance providers, service contractors, marinas, and other industry professionals. The role involves promoting our broker sales program and directly onboarding new clients into our yacht management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and expand relationships with yacht brokers and luxury marine professionals
  • Promote and educate industry contacts on YMS and the YMS Business Sales Program
  • Generate new business through broker referrals and direct outreach to vessel owners
  • Attend industry events, boat shows, and networking functions to represent YMS
  • Develop targeted outreach campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team
  • Contribute to social media efforts and help oversee presence on key platforms
  • Use CRM and communication platforms to manage leads, activity, and follow-up
  • Assist with preparing marketing emails and reports using tools like Mailchimp or similar
  • Collaborate with internal staff to ensure smooth onboarding and service delivery

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the yachting industry is required
  • Existing relationships with yacht brokers and/or brokerages is strongly preferred
  • Proven sales or business development experience, preferably in marine or luxury services
  • Professional, self-motivated, and capable of managing their own outreach calendar
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Excel, and Word
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, Mailchimp, SalesGenie, or similar marketing tools
  • Comfortable engaging across email, phone, social platforms, and in-person events
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
